Abstract: We propose a class of adaptive enriched semi-Lagrangian finite element methods for accurate and efficient numerical solution of incompressible flow problems. The proposed approach uses a stable semi-Lagrangian method to handle the computational difficulties as well as nonphysical oscillations caused by the convection terms, the finite element discretization to manage irregular geometries, and an L²-projection procedure using quadrature rules.
